Measuring Your Wall for Wallpaper
Before ordering your fixed-size rolls or custom-sized mural from Liv Wallpapers, it's essential to measure your wall accurately. This guide will help you determine how many rolls you need or the exact size of your custom mural.
Measuring for Custom-Sized Murals
1. Measure the Full Wall Dimensions
Measure the Full Wall Dimensions
Measure the total width and height of all the walls you want to cover. If the mural will span more than one wall, sum the widths of each wall. Ensure you capture the highest point if there are any variations in height across the walls.
2. Add Flexibility
Add 10 cm (approximately 4 inches) to both the width and height measurements. This extra margin accounts for any irregularities in the wall during installation.
3. Record Your Measurements
Write down your measurements clearly, as these will dictate the size of your custom mural. Ensure to double-check your numbers to avoid any errors.
4. Use Our m² Calculator
To find out how many square meters you need to purchase, please utilize the calculator available on the product page. The calculator will round the total number of square meters up or down, but don’t worry—we will produce your custom mural with the exact dimensions you provide.
5. Prepare Your Wallpaper
Lay out the strips in numerical order, label side up, starting with strip number 1. Allow the wallpaper to relax for a few minutes to eliminate any curl from rolling.
6. Provide Exact Dimensions at Checkout
When checking out, you will receive a form where you should write the exact dimensions of your wall, including the additional 10 cm already added to both the width and height. We will produce your custom mural based on these exact measurements.
Measuring for Fixed-Size Rolls
1. Gather Your Tools
Use a metal tape measure for accuracy. Soft cloth tape measures can stretch and may lead to incorrect measurements.
2. Measure the Height
Measure from the ceiling to the top of the skirting board or floor. Be sure to check the height in multiple places, as walls may not be perfectly straight. Record the highest measurement for the most accurate results.
3. Measure the Width
Measure the width of each wall from left to right. For accuracy, ignore any windows or doors; you want the total width of the entire wall.
4. Calculate Total Area
Once you have the dimensions, use our roll calculator available on each product page to determine how many rolls you will need. Simply enter the total width and height of the wall. Our calculator will automatically add an extra 10% to the square meter total, providing a safe margin when ordering the rolls.
